“It has to make you feel something”, the extraordinarily talented River Bennett, a photographer friend of mine, exclaimed after reviewing the photos on her camera during our trip to southern China. Her words provoked me. They pointed to something I couldn’t ignore. So right there among the rice terraces of the Guangxi province, I decided to embrace that statement and let it guide my approach to photography. The focus shouldn’t be merely a calculated exposure or a mathematically correct composition. The litmus test from then on needed to be an emotional one.
The prints I provide are therefore not always perfectly composed, but they carry emotion. Shades of humanity and layers of landscapes that pulled me in and made me feel something. So whether you are looking for something for your office, your living room or perhaps that café you’re starting, my hope is that the prints bring that sense of connection to our planet and humanity itself.
To offset our operational impact and to contribute towards a more sustainable planet, every print sold plants a tree somewhere on our beautiful and fragile earth through our partnership with One Tree Planted.
